Today's broadband applications-including VoIP, high-speed Internet, streaming multimedia and online gaming-are extremely bandwidth and delay sensitive, and can impose unique demands on network resources in order to function properly. This provides carriers the opportunity to improve their Average Revenue per User (ARPU) by offering a range of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that guarantee individual subscribers the bandwidth they require for any given application, at an agreed upon price. Carriers rely on the Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities of their network equipment to make that happen.
